Podcasts: A Great Resource By: Brynn Rohlf

After doing our press kit assignment, I have realized how useful podcasts can be. Before doing this assignment I really did not know what podcasts were or what they were used for. After doing some research however, I realized that I have known what podcasts were all the time and just did not know that what they were called. An example of a podcast can be a short video clip on a website or a radio show that is on the internet. Basically a podcast is a streaming audio clip that can be found online and you can use for a multitude of things. Since our assignment was to do a press kit for gala located in New York City, I decided to hold my gala at the Plaza Hotel and use my podcast to let people know who the celebrity guest will be. By putting the podcast on Save the Children website it will let millions of people know who the guest speaker will be. Since I decided to use a very public and popular celebrity I feel that it will help the turnout of the media to the event. This will also let people who were not invited to the gala know who will be endorsing this great foundation and hopefully will even make more people donate to the cause!
