One assessment tool for my Seminar in Mass Communication is a Career Protfolio. Each student must creat a portfolio that includes 8 items. In class on Friday, October 2nd, 2009, Brother Smith had us work on Career Portfolio # 6: The Job Interview. He first gave the class tips for last minute interview preparation. Some tips included: doing research about who will be interviewing you, dress appropriately, be on time because lateness is unacceptable, etc. etc. He then had the class do a virual interview on the computer. The Virtual Interview contains actual interview questions ranging from puff ball to killer. This interactive section gives you the opportunity to test your answers in a safe environment so that when the real thing comes along you can engage in a meaningful exchange rather than grope for a clumsy comeback. Some of the questions seemed more appropriate for new grads or entry-level applicants, while others seemed for more experienced interviewees. I think The Virtual Interview is a very helpful tool for those who have never been on an interview. I encourage everyone to check out The Virtual Interview. Like I said once before, it is a very helpful tool!
