Katie Nolan- My Internship Experience

I really wish that I could have had a more positive experience at my internship at Planned Television Arts last semester. If I can give any piece of advise about them I would say to choose carefully and to not settle for just anyone, bc thats what I did. However, I feel my experience would have been better had I had a mentor that was more helpful. At PTA we arent referred to as interns but rather Assistants to the Pubicity Team which I thought was really cool. Unfortunately, while all the other interns were actually doing that I was doing Excel the whole time. Thankfully, when my mentor wasnt there which was more then I expected I got to do what I was supposed to be doing and actually be like a real publicist. Our clients are mostly non-fiction authors who we get interviews for early morning radio shows as well as Satellite TV. This way it cuts down on traveling expenses and the author can do it from wherever he or she is. Being a publicist was really interesting although I noticed the frusturation of some of the workers in the office when the client wasnt cooperating. I dont want to completly take this field in PR off my list completely but I definately would want to work with a different clientele.
