I’ am sure over the weekend everyone has seen on the news the story about the little boy who supposedly floated away in a giant helium balloon. Many people wondered if this was a staged ordeal to generate publicity for a reality TV show. Being a PR major this story grabbed my attention right away. I had actually seen the episode of the reality show Wife Swap that the family was on. After I saw this story on the news I also felt that the father used this event to get publicity. The father was very off the wall on the show and he was also a meteorologist and wanna-be actor. I think he did this stunt in order to try and get himself discovered. Seriously though what a horrible publicity stunt, not only did he make his son hide in the attic and lie about it, but he and his wife are now also facing felony charges. Not to mention the millions of dollars it cost to look for the boy. The son actually even admitted he knew about the hoax on a talk show saying that he hid in the attic for the show. If you ask me the man should of just created a video of himself on YouTube to get attention. He went way too way with this stunt.
