For most people getting an internship in mass communication is key to getting a job after graduation. There are many reasons why everyone should do an internship because in the end it can really help you out. However, internships are not the only way to go about enhancing their skills. At Iona we have four different mass comm clubs so that wecan cater to all the different types of mass comm majors. The four mass comm clubs are Iona College Television (ICTV), the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), the Iona College Advertising Agency (ICAA), and the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). All of these clubs can give you the extra edge you need on your resume, plus it will build up your skills in any of the areas that you may want to get into. Brother Raymond Smith department chair of the mass communication department stated that " The clubs we have in this department are an important adjunct to the educational experience of our students. They afford opportunities for practical experience and provide an opportunity to demonstrate what they learn in the classroom." I completely agree with Brother Smith and think that if anyone has the time to check out whatever club may be interesting to them that the benefits will come quickly!
