According to an article on PRSA.org entitled “Public Relations Leads Social Media Engagement at Most Organizations,“ many organizations and corporations are beginning to understand the importance of social media. A recent study, 2009 Digital Readiness Report, done by an online newsroom provider, iPressroom, has illustrated the different benefits of social media and which ones are the most important and why. Areas included would be bulk emailing, effective use of search engines, blogs, micro-blogs and networking.
According to the study, social medium communication skills are just as important as traditional media relations and other skills in the hiring process for many corporations. Also, many are deciding that hiring a social medium communication specialist would have an immense impact on their success.
In order to help ensure that there is not a communication gap, many communication professionals are seeking training opportunities to stay up to date and current with their knowledge.
