According to the August Spherion(R) Employment Report, employees in Florida have more positive feelings about their status in their work environment than they did in July.
Since July, employee confidence has grown 6.3 points. This shows that more employees are expressing feelings that the economy is growing. More people are feeling optimistic about job availability in Florida and those who already have jobs are feeling confident they won't be laid-off anytime soon.
Such levels of employee confidence have not been reported in the last 12 months of surveying. Nine percent more workers in Florida believe the economy is growing, as well as nine percent fewer people who believe there are very little jobs available. So what does this mean in relation to our economy?
A growing number of people in Florida are beginning to believe the end of the recession is near. Companies, too, are starting to explore flexible hiring options and thus are more willing to hire people.
According to Paula Franco, branch manager for Spherion Staffing Services in Florida, "Although we are most definitely in an employers market, it is important not to forget how easily this pendulum can shift. Employers should not lose sight of keeping their retention efforts on the forefront of their workforce planning and implementation plans."
As Franco warns, employees might seem more confident that the economic recession is ending, but employers should still be cautious about hiring new people or else we may easily fall back into the downward economic spiral.
